J. Nolan proves why he deserves to be called one of the nicest emcees in the Hip-Hop arena. He is definitely pushing lyrical weight as he delivers the ‘platinum flow’ that any Hip-Hop enthusiast can appreciate. If I had to compare; J. Nolan has a similar flow of Diggy Simmons with a hint of Nas and Lupe Fiasco seeping through.

J.Nolan, born Jamar Nolan is a 22-year-old Hip-Hop artist in Atlanta, GA. He is originally from New Haven, CT and spent a brief part of his childhood in the Bay Area of California. Although currently unsigned, Nolan is becoming one of the south-east region’s premier lyricists on the rise with his penchant for mixing fluid wordplay with metaphors and also showing ability to venture into storytelling concepts while maintaining his signature smooth delivery, no matter the subject. Influences consist of Nas, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Lupe Fiasco, The Roots, and many others.

More To Come

Nolan cites his first rhyme as being written before 4th grade when his older brother encouraged him to try it out. He quit, and picked the pen back up in 7th grade for a brief stint before quitting once again. In his freshman year of High School, and after breaking his leg in an accident while playing basketball, he began writing again. In 2005, Nolan formed a group with his best friend Osiris The Prophet and cousin Yung B Da Producer. The trio was called Manifest. In 2007, they disbanded as solo artists in a crew known as The Manifest Movement. J.Nolan uses this imprint to release his independent mixtapes and free albums.

In May 2009, J.Nolan released his first official mixtape, “Chasing Cool.” It was sponsored by VIMBY.com’s now defunct music blog UponThingz.com. His follow up project, “Resilience” was released in October of 2009. He shot and released a video for his single “Going In” featuring up and coming singer, Zayani Rose. In August 2010, J.Nolan released a free album entitled “Broken Dreams” in conjunction with a team called the Connoisseurs of Culture. This would prove to be his most widely accepted musical offering.

Nolan has recently released the mixtape, “The Loose Files” and followed up with his latest album “Chaos Theory.” As 2011 looks to be a promising year for J.Nolan, fans of the authentic sound of Hip-Hop should be on the lookout for what’s to come.

Immediately upon hearing her music, I was drawn to Shena’s sound and her vocal ability. She displays stardom in her delivery and proves another great asset to the industry as a singer and songwriter. I am looking forward to hearing more from this London lady!

Born in Nottingham, Shena, now a Harrow local, was exposed to music from an early age. Growing up to the sounds and lyrics of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Santana to name a few, her musical knowledge evolved and she became accustomed to a number of genres including Pop, Classical and Underground. Raised within a musical family, Shena’s father, a Hindi singer, ignited her passion for Hindi music, allowing her to appreciate music from both the east and west.

Stuck_In_The_Middle

Shortly after turning 18, Shena and her family moved to Leicester where she then pursued a career in music.

For the last 3 years, Shena has been focusing on mastering her sound and working on her vocals. Working with music producer, Ramzi, has allowed Shena the opportunity to groom her vocal skills and become a serious contender within the industry. Having had the chance to experiment with different genres, Shena brings a unique approach to the music industry with a collection of genre-defying songs. With the release of her debut single, Stuck in the Middle, Shena explains how the song explores the emotions of loving two people and dealing with the dilemma of fighting between these two different types of love.

She delivers a diverse collection of her world through music which appeases the listener who’s curious about her total package.

IAYAALIS is a creatrix – a female creator and multi-talent whose critically-acclaimed rhymes, singing voice, spoken word, poetry, prose, and visual art have earned respect and admiration from free-thinking, progressive audiences internationally.

Rhythmic-Rhyde

Nashville-based Donalda Antonia Chandler, whose acronymic name, I.A.Y.A.A.L.IS stands for I Am You Are And Love IS (pronounced “i-yall-EE”), emerged from the Middle Tennessee arts community as an award-winning emcee, singer, poet, visual and performance artist. According to The Nashville Scene newspaper, IAYAALIS’ lyrical style merges “sensual physicality with deep spiritual insights and a distinctly feminine point of view”. The music infuses a cross-section of hip-hop and soul sounds with occasional flashes of African percussion, dancehall rhythms and other worldly vibrations.

Let-It-Flow

Her Nashville Music Award nomination for Best Unsigned Artist sparked frenzied courtships by major labels, but ultimately IAYAALIS refused to compromise her independence and artistry. Instead, she partnered with longtime friend and collaborator Nadir Omowale and his Detroit-based indie label, EAPro Inc., to release an album that displays the full, incandescent range of IAYAALIS’ vocal and musical imagery.

The March 2011 release of her long-awaited musical debut, I Am You Are And Love IS…!, IAYAALIS rouses the senses, painting contagious melodies and enlightened lyrics on a canvas of scintillating rhythms and speaker-knocking bass. Eclectic, esoteric and engaging, I Am You Are And Love IS…! offers an aural collage of hip hop, soul and spoken word that elevates the spirit while it heats up the dance floor.

My favs from the release are I-in-i Manifest, Rhythmic Rhyde, Mayday Mayday, and R.E.A.L.

Her voice captured my attention immediately as she soars through her songs. Gina Zavalis sings with grace, and the warmth of her tones resonates character that leaves the listener feeling her message.

Bio
A lifelong passion for music and years of singing in a variety of musical styles are behind the success of Gina Zavalis and the recent release of her debut single “In Your Eyes.”

Nashville’s Beth Schackne of Schack Attack Songs says, “Beautiful melody, nice strong chorus. Gina obviously has a good grasp of the craft; very impressive for a beginning songwriter.”

In_Your_Eyes

Though Zavalis has been performing for over two decades she is just unveiling her song writing ability and the response is overwhelmingly positive. The LA Guitar Academy says, “In her new song, In Your Eyes, Gina Zavalis’ warm tones invite listeners to travel with her on the journey from despair to forgiveness. Her voice, plaintive at first, soars to brilliance as she captures the moment of transformation–a moment of pure freedom. Introspective, brutally honest, Gina conveys a very human moment: the desire for unconditional love, even amid one’s flaws.”

Reach For Me

As Gina Zavalis’ artistic credit continues to climb, she has already garnered the respect of some of the industry’s most acclaimed talents. “Gina can wrap herself around a song, and in so doing, turns an ordinary POPsicle into a downright CREAMsicle!” Sass Jordan, Juno Award winning artist and former Canadian Idol host, remarked when asked about Gina’s singing.

Zavalis is working between New York City and Nashville recording a number of new songs with her producer, Doug Beiden, and management through the Lowry Agency based in Nashville. Together they are creating an image that fits Gina’s three octave range, capitalize on placing her alongside contemporary female singers that have come before her such as Sarah Brightman, Celine Dion, and Barbra Streisand.
