SoulBounce Presents: Men Love Mary: A Tribute To ‘My Life’
Fifteen years ago Mary J. Blige released My Life, a breakthrough album chronicling her inner struggles while catapulting her to superstardom as the Queen of Hip Hop Soul.
In celebration of this milestone, we gathered nine dynamic male artists to record re-imaginings of their favorite My Life songs for Men Love Mary: A Tribute to My Life, a digital EP presented by SoulBounce. The EP is hosted by one of Bad Boy’s legendary “Hitmen,” Chucky Thompson, who was a key producer on the My Life album.
My Life was a pivotal point in Mary’s career where her voice shined as a beacon of hope and understanding to men and women all over the world. Men Love Mary: A Tribute to My Life offers a fresh perspective from Eric Roberson, Jesse Boykins III, Slakah the Beatchild, Nino Moschella, Bradd Marquis, TL Cross, Darien, D Maurice, Fave and Siik–a new generation of artists inspired by her sincerity, longevity and artistry.
Intro
My Life was about Mary’s relationship with one man, and now many men have reinterpreted these songs in an effort to pay tribute to an artist who has given us so much of herself.

Emerging from the depths of the ATL, arrives an unconventional, positivity driven, hip-hop artist named Blessed Wun. With the release of his debut album Time (August, 2009), this eccentric emcee/artist/producer/writer is poised to gain attention in the Hip-Hop market.
Born in Atlanta, Blessed grew up in a poverty-stricken neighborhood that gave him a strong work ethic and a certified testimony. While seeking to share his gift, he focused on his passion of music, and after years of symphonic musical studies, Blessed Wun found his calling in producing records and writing songs.
In October, 2007 “Blessed Wun” was the first artist featured twice on the Hip-Hop Compilation: Taking the Gospel to the Streets V.5, and was voted by thousands to be featured on V.6 which was released in October 2008. He was honored with an ambassador award in January 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia for his hard work and success within the community. With a vast history of live performances, Blessed Wun is building relationships within the Atlanta Hip-Hop community and continuing to expand his horizons.
The content of his music exemplifies conscience thoughts while keeping the listener entertained and intrigued. With the God-given talent and testimonies destined to touch the lives of millions, Blessed Wun aims to continue to grow and share his gifts with the world. He is currently independent.

Writing lyrics since the age of 12, Arablak is a well seasoned veteran in the art of emceeing. He grew up listening to and mimicking artists such as KRS One, Ras Kass, Wu Tang Clan, Onyx, EPMD, Redman, Bootcamp Clik, Nas, The Roots, Pharoahe Monch, Common, as well as numerous others… A fan of hip-hop music primarily, it is his priority to make music that is exceptional, in a market where being average is the new standard.
Born and raised in Worcester, MA, he grew up fast, experiencing the perils of low income society, while still maintaining a healthy fascination for science, math and language skills. The “bright kid” in the back of the class, displayed constant disdain for authority and normality. Refusing to blend in, and was always subconsciously different from his dress code, to his style of walk and speech, Arablak embodied Hip-Hop, being a creative soul, drenched in the blossoming culture surrounding him. From the early to mid 90′s, he was fortunate enough to grow amidst hip-hop’s famed ‘boom-bap’ era.
Now a well rounded man, with experiences ranging from low income housing & early fatherhood to corporate America & middle class life, he is eager to unveil his art to any and all ears thirsty for some fresh, energetic music, created with quality in mind, and passion in the heart.

Amiena’s love for music and variations of styles developed at an young age. Growing up in a home without television, Amiena spent most of her time listening to a wide variety of music. She was introduced to the sounds of Lou Christie, Chicago, The Temptations, Carole King, Billie Holiday, Etta James, and numerous others. They all became her favorites and would later foster her own soulful style of popular eclectic sounds.
In 2000, Amiena was asked to submit a song for a television show which did not air. However, the experience prompted Amiena to explore producing music for television and film.
Her debut album Right Here was released in 2006, and in November of the same year, her song, Never Know aired on the popular FOX TV show Bones. Also in the same month, Amiena walked away from the LA Music Awards with R&B Album of the Year and Nu-Jazz Vocalist of the Year for the song Fourth Floor. As this was a night of dreams realized; it was only the beginning for Amiena.
Internationally, she found herself in high demand while performing in Lebanon, Syria, Greece, Switzerland, Italy, London, Dubai, Prague and Bahrain.
Currently, Amiena is working on her sophomore album.

It is evident he is not a sleeper or sitting on the sidelines. Scott Knoxx is holding his own and taking charge in his placement in this industry. His rhymes are clever and fitting to every track he compliments!
Scott Knoxx began making a name for himself as a teenager on Milwaukee’s north side nearly 15 years ago, setting the mixtape circuit ablaze with classic flows over jacked beats and superb original material throughout the mid-to-late 90s. His first full-length album, Knoxxism, hit the streets in 1999, officially announcing his status as one to be reckoned with on Milwaukee’s Hip-Hop scene. His second LP, Mil-Town Millionaire, added greatly to Knoxx’s growing reputation as a rhyme animal with endless lyrical energy and vivid street tales, while also setting the stage for many power moves to come.
Soon after the millennium turned, Knoxx made his first foray into the corporate side of the industry with Xtra Entertainment, an imprint aimed at handling his ever-evolving catalog of business interests which includes promotions and marketing, model management, internet radio and further strengthening the Scott Knoxx brand via the local and national mixtape circuit. Knoxx and his company have been across the country sharing the Mil-Town sound, performing alongside and building business relationships with industry heavies including Digital Underground, the Recordbreaker and DJs Shadyville DJs.
While his interests have grown from being strictly musical, Knoxx understands the music is what keeps everything moving. For that reason and because he’s addicted to the booth, he employs a feverish work ethic, never leaving the streets without fresh material to rock to. His latest effort, a collaboration with Philly Fly Boy called ”My Life Is Like A Movie”, is more of the same carefully crafted Scott Knoxx sound his fans have become accustomed to.
