A Better Understanding Of The Powerful Beat Thang Virtual
As many of you have asked me several questions about the BTV, I thought it would be great to make some clarifications here as well as assist you better in your purchase plans.
The Beat Thang Virtual is a virtual ‘beat’ machine so to speak. It samples, it’s a real-time 16-track sequencer, has MIDI capabilities, 24 bit effects, mega awesome sounds (not some cheesy artificial presets), quantization, and a whole lot more.
Although it has some DAW functionality, it is NOT a DAW such as Cubase, ProTools, Logic, Sonar, and the list goes on… and if you are reading this, you probably already know how these function. The BTV is designed for user-friendliness and quick turn-around in the music production process.
The Beat Thang Virtual is not for everybody, but so is every other piece of gear out there. So the decision is always ultimately yours. You have to follow the instructions provided and be sure your equipment is capable of operating or implementing the BTV. If you’re having freeze-ups, check your RAM, and monitor your CPU usage. How many tons of programs you have open during the use of the BTV that your computer can handle? Double check your ASIO drivers to ensure proper settings.
As of this print, the BTV is not quite there in handling VST and RTAS integration… I’ve already tested some of the latest in this functionality… so they are on it for near future updates. Therefore, if this is what you are looking for now… This is NOT the purchase for you now!
If you’re wanting to make music with some banging sounds and a portable piece of software that delivers quality sound, and has enough bells and whistles to impress you from start, plus a budget conscious price tag… then you should already be on their site ordering yours.
Some call this software great for beginner’s…. well it is, however, it is not just for beginners. I’ve been making tracks for years, and been in music most of my life, and while also being a pianist… I enjoy the BTV. I’m from the hardware school where I learned to produce music proficiently on keyboards. As I don’t nearly disregard the powerful capabilities of my babies boards (FantomX6 and ASR10), I enjoy the BTV because it’s quick to get in and out of, and for the most part it DOES what it says it does, plus it’s fun to bang out on.
Whether you hear my tracks or any body else’s… the music produced from the BTV is what you put into it. Only you know how serious you are about your music, and there’s no software to define that! You’re only a producer by the work that you put in, the knowledge you gain and the exposure and experience you commit to.
I enjoy sampling, so I work hard at achieving fast turnaround in chopping my samples and dumping and creating kits. Of course my boards do the same thing and even more, but the point is, I can still get the job done on the BTV.
Many of you have asked how did I sample and get the sample in time? If you want to make a certain function work for you… you work at it. As mentioned before, I love to sample, and I will challenge any software that says it samples… I will call it out and see if it delivers, and the BTV does.
Many of you have asked me about exporting individual song tracks. Yes it can be done! You solo each track you want to dump over to a file and load into your DAW.
Some of you are concerned with the name. Why? Nah like really? Does it actually influence how you work on this piece of software? If that’s the case, then you’re in the wrong field because the list goes on regarding names long before the Beat Thang Virtual came along. FruityLoops and Mo Phatt jumps out at me… whom are successfully doing well!
Appreciate this piece of software for what it does and have your say-so for what you’d like to experience from it. Communicate your valid issues like people do in the music production business. This is how companies like the Beat Kangz evolve based on the user experience.
Now the choice is yours!
It’s a powerful $149 program… You’d spend that in one night at the club listening to someone else’s banging tracks…
If you want to order it, click on one of the banners and do your thang, and if you don’t… Thanks for reading, and continued success in your music endeavor!
